Bhubaneswar (NVI): Paradip Port Trust (PPT) in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha has become the number one major port in India by handling 25.73 million metric tonnes cargo during April-June 2020.

Despite the maritime industry facing a daunting task to function smoothly due to COVID-19 pandemic which continues to stifle the global chain, the PPT has come out with flying colours and clocked a record 25.73 million metric tonnes cargo handling, according to a statement released by PPT.

Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT and AK Bose, Dy. Chairman, PPT, have conveyed their gratitude to all employees, Unions, State Government, District Administration, Importers, Exporters, Stevedores, Steamer Agents, Port Users and other stakeholders, with whose regular support, a new chapter could be written in the history of the port.

However, the encouragement and guidance shown by the Minister of Shipping, Mansukh Mandviya and Secretary Shipping, Sanjeev Ranjan, helped the port to scale new heights.
