Srinagar, Sep 25 (NVI) National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah today said that the foreign diplomats are being invited to Kashmir at the time of elections for a guided tour and if they can visit Valley, why foreign journalists are not allowed.

“People are participating in elections on their own despite Government of India’s oppression for the past so many years. The credit for peoples’ participation in elections goes to people itself,” Omar said while talking to reporters here. He said that if foreign delegations can visit to Kashmir, why foreign journalists who have applied for a visit to Valley are not being allowed.

“Bringing in these delegations at a time of elections and organizing a guided tour for them like tourists is something fishy,” Omar said. He said when these delegates issue statement on Kashmir, India objects by calling Kashmir as an internal issue, now the same people are brought in to see voting.

A 15-member delegation from 15 countries arrived on a surprise visit to Kashmir today at a time when poling for the second phase of Assembly elections is underway in 26 constituencies of J&K. The visit of foreign diplomats has evoked criticism from political parties and politicians who have questioned the timing of the unannounced visit.          (News Vibes of India)
