Srinagar, Aug 04 (NVI): National Conference vice-president and the party’s candidate from Ganderbal today became emotional during a public rally as he removed his cap and made a hand folded request to voters to vote for him.

“Today, I am here to request you to vote for me. Give me one opportunity to serve you, just one opportunity to serve you once again,” he said addressing workers in Ganderbal.

Omar removed his skull cap triggering emotions at the rally with NC workers asking him to wear the cap again. Earlier, Omar filed his nomination papers from Ganderbal amid massive sloganeering from the NC workers. He was accompanied by NC leader Nasir Aslam Wani and others. “Today, I request you with my cap down, vote for me. If we will hold the rope tightly, we will sail through,” he said as emotions ran high the rally. Omar also choose to speak in Kashmiri language.

Omar is facing a tough contest in Ganderbal where PDP has fielded Bashir Mir. Former NC MLA Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar is also contesting as independent to make the contest intresting. Earlier, speaking to media men after filing his nomination papers, Omar said that BJP was trying to manipulate the elections by fielding independent candidates with a sole aim of roping them in for government formation later.

“I am sure that BJP’s tactics won’t succeed,” he said, adding that people will respond to BJP designs with their votes. About Ganderbal seat, Omar said he had left the seat for Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar (who was with NC then) in 2014. If I had contested elections against Ishfaq, he would not have won,” he said. “Ishfaq didn’t live up to the expectations of people and quit NC.”    (News Vibes of India)
