Srinagar, Jan 07 (NVI): As Jammu and Kashmir marked the 9th death anniversary of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the founder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a gathering at Dara Shikoh, Bijbheara, in Ananatnag district served as a platform for party leaders, supporters and local residents to remember his transformative leadership.

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti paid tribute to her father’s enduring legacy, highlighting his unwavering commitment to “peace with dignity” and his substantial contributions to the region’s progress. Reflecting on his tenure as Chief Minister, she praised his ability to navigate political challenges and implement policies that fostered dialogue, particularly through initiatives like the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, which facilitated cross-border trade and reunification of families.

Mehbooba also expressed deep concern over the current government’s handling of critical issues, such as increasing unemployment, unjust employee terminations, and the erosion of merit-based recruitment. She criticized the administration’s divisive policies, which she claimed were alienating the youth and fueling divisions along communal and quota lines.

The event concluded with a firm commitment from PDP leaders to continue Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s vision of unity, inclusivity, and justice for all communities in Jammu and Kashmir. (News Vibes of India)
