Peshawar, April 7 (NVI) Under its ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been carrying our attacks on Pakistani military and its installations on daily basis and causing casualties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
In its latest statement, it claimed to have killed at least 18 soldiers, with possibilities of several more, over the last two days in various attacks.
In one attack on intervening night of April 5 and 6, the TTP cadres attacked and captured a camp of Pakistan Army in Sar Khura area of Angor Adda in South Waziristan district, its spokesman Muhammad Khorasani said.
Around 10 army personnel were killed and several injured in the attack, while the rest of the soldiers fled, he said.
The Taliban also seized a large amount of weapons in this operation, he said.
On April 5, the TTP fighters attacked military personnel who were busy building a front in the Bospa area of Badr in South Waziristan district, the spokesman said, adding 5 military personnel were killed and a camera was destroyed.
On the same day, at around noon, the Taliban carried out a mine blast on foot soldiers in Shawal district of South Waziristan, in which 2 military personnel were killed and two were injured, the spokesman said.
A soldier was killed in a Taliban sniper attack on the Mamitan Khel Road in Bakakhel of Bannu district, he said.
Yesterday, the Taliban attacked a fort of Frontier Corps with a sniper in Gomal in Tank district, in which there is a strong possibility of deaths and injuries, Khorasani said.
After this, a convoy of 5 army vehicles was ambushed, which is likely to have resulted in deaths and injuries, while one vehicle was also damaged, he said.
In the limits of the Bizan Khel police station township in the Domail in Bannu district, the Taliban targeted CTD official Atif on the instructions of the TIA and also seized his pistol., he said.
The Taliban also attacked a post located in the Malasaid Sar Torgat area of the Salarzo district of Bajaur district with a sniper, in which casualties were reported, the spokesman said.
At 4:30 pm yesterday, the Taliban attacked the “Pul Fauji Post” located in Hasukhel area of Mir Ali in North Waziristan district using grenade launchers, he said, adding there were reports of casualties.
