Jammu, Nov 29(NVI): A whopping number of 5.59 lakh youth have applied for 4,002 posts of Constable in Jammu and Kashmir Police. The exams for these posts will be held on December 1, 8, and 22. These details emerged during a meeting held by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo here with senior officials from the Civil Administration, Police Department, and JKSSRB.
An official statement issued here, the meeting, attended by JKSSRB Chairperson Indu Kanwal Chib, Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, ADGP Jammu, IGP Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and other key officers, focused on ensuring foolproof arrangements at all 856 exam centers across the Union Territory.
Chief Secretary Dulloo highlighted the importance of strict vigilance and seamless coordination to prevent malpractices. He directed Deputy Commissioners to form district-level teams under senior officers to monitor exam centers and personally visit as many venues as possible.
To maintain transparency, he ordered the deployment of adequate security personnel, ensured videography of exam proceedings, and mandated frisking supervisors—both male and female gazetted officers—for every center.
“The entire process, from secure transportation of exam materials to the collection of OMR sheets, must be closely monitored,” he said, urging officials to prioritize fairness and accuracy in the recruitment process.
In her briefing, JKSSRB Chairperson Indu Kanwal Chib revealed that the recruitment drive has attracted 5,59,135 applicants for the posts of Constables (Executive/Armed/SDRF, Telecommunication, and Photographer) in the Home Department.
Exam Dates:
December 1: 2,62,863 candidates will appear for the Constable (Executive/Armed/SDRF) exam at 856 centers, with Jammu district hosting the highest number (54,296). December 8: 1,67,609 candidates will take the Constable (Telecommunication) exam. December 22: 1,28,663 aspirants will compete for Constable (Photographer) positions.
The Chairperson highlighted that for the first time, videography of the exams is being ensured, along with the deployment of specialized frisking supervisors to uphold integrity and transparency.
This historic recruitment effort underscores the government’s commitment to providing fair employment opportunities and strengthening the ranks of the J&K Police.
