Srinagar, Aug 23 (NVI) : The Government of Jammu and Kashmir declared paid holidays for the employees of all sectors, on the eve of forthcoming Legislative Assembly elections,
The Government order in this regard reads that paid holidays shall be observed on the following dates, corresponding to different phases of the elections.
18 September 2024, Wednesday – Phase I : 24 Assembly Constituencies 25 September 2024, Wednesday – Phase II : 26 Assembly Constituencies 01 October 2024, Tuesday – Phase III : 40 Assembly Constituencies
It has also mentioned in the order that, during these days all employees in business, trade, industrial and other establishments are entitled to a paid holiday if they are registered voters in their respective constituencies.
It reads, employers are prohibited from deducting wages or making any reductions for these days. Breach of this order may be a punishable offence with fine extending to five hundred rupees. It is hereby further ordered that the said paid holiday will also be allowed in terms of explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
