Srinagar (NVI): Pakistan resorted to intense shelling of mortars and small arms in sectors of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, defence officials said today.
Officials said that Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing in Degwar sector of Poonch district by firing mortars and small arms. “Our troops gave a befitting response,” they said.
Official sources said that at around 7.45pm, Pakistani Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation (CFV) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Degwar sector by firing mortars and other weapons, adding that a befitting response is being given to the Pakistani aggression by the Indian Army.
There were no reports of any casualties so far. However, panic has gripped border residents of Poonch due to the frequent CVFs in the district over the past few weeks.
This year, a record number of 1,670 CFVs have taken place in J&K with border residents planning to shift their base and move to safer places along with their livestocks.
