New Delhi (NVI): Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire along LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir twice, while resorting to unprovoked firing with small arms and mortar shelling, defence officials said.

The first CFV took place at around 6.45 pm in the evening when the Pakistan military started firing with small arms and resorted to intense shelling with mortars along LoC in Mankote sector of Poonch, they said, adding that the Indian Army was retaliating befittingly.

The second CFV took place at around 8.30 pm when Pakistani troops again engaged in intense shelling along with small arms fire in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district, defence officials said.

Poonch has witnessed a heavy and regular firing from the Pakistani side in the past few months. As per its tactic over the years, Pakistan has been violating the 2003 ceasefire pact with India and resorting to such unprovoked firing, which is often aided with heavy shelling to facilitate the infiltration bids and give cover to terrorists sneaking into this side of LoC in J&K.
