Peshawar: Several Pakistani soldiers are believed to have been killed after a group of suicide attackers stormed the military cantonment in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province today.
It was a pre-dawn attack by fighters affiliated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction of Pakistani Taliban.
The attack started at around 04:50 am (Pakistan Time), with an explosives-laden vehicle being blown up at the gate of Cantonment, reports said.
As the huge explosion killed and injured some soldiers and stunned others, other attackers entered the premises firing indiscriminately.
A gunfight erupted and was continuing till now.
There are a number of fatalities on the side of the Pakistan Army but the exact figure is not clear yet.
