Peshawar/Quetta: The Pakistani military today suffered heavy casualties, with at least 14 soldiers being killed and injured in two separate incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The bigger setback for the Pakistan Army came in Tank district of Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when its raid on a camp of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) backfired.
According to TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani, the raid by the Pakistan Army this morning in Tank was foiled by the Mujahideen who killed and injured 12 soldiers and forced the military to retreat.
The Mujahideen seized 2 Kalashnikovs and an American-made night vision from the Army, he said.
The Pakistani military, as usual, tried to suppress details, saying it lost only 2 soldiers in the operation.
Separately, in Marget area of Balochistan, a group of gunmen attacked a security post, killing at least 3 soldiers.
“On 20 May, a group of terrorists attacked a Security Forces Post established in Zarghoon, Marget Area of Balochistan. … Troops on the Post retaliated readily to the fire raid thereby, pushing back the terrorists,” Pakistan military spokesman Inter Services Press Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
“However, in the ensuing heavy exchange of fire 3 soldiers embraced shahadat while one terrorists was sent to hell by the Security forces,” it added.
