New Delhi (NVI): Pakistan has been shocked into a major disappointment by the US which recently welcomed resumption of 4G mobile internet services in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

This was the first shocker for Pakistan from the one-month-old Biden administration over Jammu and Kashmir for which Islamabad slammed the US.

“We are disappointed to note the reference to Jammu & Kashmir in the U.S. Department of State’s tweet regarding resumption of 4G mobile internet” in Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistan Foreign Ministry said in a tweet.

The Pakistan Foreign Ministry was commenting on a tweet by the US State Department two days back in which it said, “We welcome the resumption of 4G mobile internet in India’s Jammu & Kashmir. This marks an important step for local residents and we look forward to continued political & economic progress to restore normalcy in J&K.”

The 4G or high speed mobile internet services were restored in the entire Union Territory of J&K on February 5 after exactly 18 months. The internet service was suspended on August 4, 2019, just hours before the Centre revoked Article 370, which granted special status to J&K, and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two Union Territories – Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh.

Although 2G service was restored after a few months, high-speed 4G service remained suspended, although it was restored in one district each about six months back.
