Peshawar: In a major discriminatory move against Pashtuns, government authorities in Pakistan have imposed a “visa-like” system for the people of such ethnicity travelling to Punjab Province of the country, angering Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Using this issue, TTP invited support from all the “oppressed” sections of Pakistan, including Pashtuns and Baloch, to jointly fight against the “occupying” Pakistani military.

TTP, in a statement, said news and videos are in circulation for the past 2 days wherein Pashtun people are being compelled to fill a form in English language and submit photocopies of the I-cards of their 2 guarantors when they enter Punjab Province.

“Who has framed this law? Under which rules has such a law been made within the same country? Does it give a message to other Provinces to follow or is to make only Punjab safe?Dozens of such questions are coming to the minds of the discriminated people of Pakistan but there is no answer,” said TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani in a statement.

He said, “The (Pakistani) State terrorists should stop harassing the Pashtuns and end this system immediately so that the poor (Pashtun) labourers can easily travel to Punjab and work there.”

Khurasani went on to add, “On this occasion, we send a message to all the oppressed nations, especially the Pashtun and Baloch brothers, to openly oppose such cruel policies and support Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to get rid of the military forces occupying the country.”

The Pakistani establishment has recently started a major drive to target ethnic Pashtuns and other people from Afghan lineage, accusing them of being responsible for “terrorism” in the country.

It has also been accusing the Taliban regime of Afghanistan of providing “bases” for terrorists to carry out attacks in Pakistan.

Pakistan has also been deporting millions of Afghan refugees since over a month ago, angering TTP as well as the Taliban regime of Afghanistan.

The Taliban regime of Afghanistan has been slamming the Pakistani government, saying it is baselessly levelling allegations against the Kabul government while failing itself in maintaining law and order.
