Quetta, Jan 6 (NVI) Pakistani military is spreading disinformation and carrying out baseless propaganda against the leadership of Baloch National Movement (BNM), its spokesman said tonight.
The spokesman of BNM, which is engaged in a political struggle for independence of Balochistan from Pakistan, said the occupying Pakistani military is carrying out the dirty task in response to the organisation’s campaign against Pakistan’s GSP+ status.
“On the one hand, the Pakistan Army is directly involved in grave crimes against humanity through the unlawful use of state power against the Baloch nation. On the other hand, as part of its media trials and so-called fifth-generation warfare doctrine, it is spreading disinformation through the media,” the spokesman said in a statement.
“The objective of this propaganda is not only to generate negative opinion on social media regarding the Baloch movement, but also to create serious and tangible difficulties for peaceful political activists both inside the country and abroad.
“The world is well aware that agents of the Pakistan Army have been involved in serious crimes, including attempted assassinations, against their political opponents among them members and associates of the BNM in neighboring and Western countries,” he noted.
The spokesman underlined that the BNM is internationally recognized as a peaceful political party and for this reason, it is invited to global forums to represent the Baloch nation.
He said BNM leader Dr. Naseem Baloch, whom the DG ISPR falsely accuses of involvement in armed activities, is the leader of the largest political party of the Baloch nation and an advocate of the Baloch struggle for freedom through peaceful political means.
“We categorically reject this false and malicious propaganda against him,” the spokesman asserted.
“As an organized political party, the BNM is actively working for the welfare and protection of the Baloch nation across all spheres of life by establishing dedicated institutions,” he said.
“In response to the severe human rights crisis in Balochistan, the BNM founded ‘Paank’, an organization that publishes daily reports on human rights violations in Balochistan, with enforced disappearances at the top of the list. In a short period of time, ‘Paank’ like other BNM institutions has gained global recognition due to the tireless efforts of sincere party activists,” he said.
“The world trusts Paank’s reports, and this credibility has become a source of concern for the Pakistan Army. It is for this reason that the Pakistan Army has targeted Paank’s coordinator in an attempt to undermine the organization’s credibility,” the spokesman said.
“However, accusations coming from a military institution that has effectively transformed into a criminal enterprise are never taken seriously by the international community. The world’s silence, driven by short-term interests, does not amount to a permanent clean chit for Pakistan. Sooner or later, the Pakistani state and its criminal Army will be held accountable for their actions,” he said.
Both the Chairman of the Baloch National Movement, Dr. Naseem Baloch, and the Coordinator of Paank, Jamal Baloch, have themselves been victims of enforced disappearance at the hands of the Pakistan Army, the spokesman said.
“They do not merely speak about this crime against humanity they have endured it personally,” he added.
“These BNM leaders are part of an effective international diplomatic campaign exposing Pakistan’s crimes against the Baloch nation, particularly focusing on Pakistan’s GSP+ status, through which the country receives substantial annual financial benefits.
“Pakistan’s GSP+ privileges and its persistent human rights violations cannot coexist. With this firm position, the BNM is running a strong campaign across Europe.
“It is precisely after this campaign gained momentum that Pakistan Army and state institutions abruptly intensified their propaganda against the BNM in an attempt to sabotage these efforts,” he said.
“European institutions must now develop a clearer understanding that Pakistan does not only physically harm peaceful political activists, but also seeks to destroy their reputations and lives through systematic disinformation and false propaganda,” the spokesman said.
“Pakistan has a long-standing practice of portraying victims as criminals and the oppressed as oppressors. However, the Baloch nation will not be deceived by such tactics. The BNM considers this a clear act of harassment, but we will not be intimidated into silence. Pakistan will be confronted at every level,” he added. (NVI)
