Jammu, July 21 (NVI): A Pakistani national was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) while allegedly attempting to cross the International Border (IB) into India in the Jammu sector during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, officials said.
The man was intercepted by BSF personnel deployed at Border Outpost (BOP) Malabela in the Pargwal area of Jammu district after they noticed suspicious movement near the border.
Despite being challenged by the troops, the intruder allegedly ignored repeated warnings and continued moving towards the Indian side, following which he was apprehended and taken to the BSF post for questioning.
During interrogation, the man identified himself as Mohammad Rafiq alias Kala (53), son of Mohammad Safiq, a resident of Pindi village in Pakistan, officials said.
According to the officials, the Pakistani national claimed that he had come from Looni village in Pakistan and was heading towards Jung village, also in Pakistan, to meet his married sister.
BSF personnel recovered a Pakistani national identity card, spectacles, cigarette packets, a lighter, tobacco, cake, biscuits, chocolates, a nail cutter and a wallet from his possession.
The Pakistani national is currently in BSF custody, and further investigation is underway, officials added.(NVI)
