Srinagar: A Pakistan terrorist, commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit, was today killed in a brief encounter with security forces in Harwan area of Srinagar in Kashmir.
The gunfight in Darbagh-Daara locality took place in the early hours after the terrorist fired at the security forces which was laying cordon following an input about presence of terrorist there, officials said.
“01 unidentified #terrorist killed. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone police tweeted about the encounter.
The slain terrorist was later identified as Khalid from Pakistan.
He was a so-called Commander of Pakistan-based LeT and was active in Kashmir since 2016, officials said.
“Killed #terrorist identified as Saifulla @ Abu Khalid @ Shawaz, resident of Karachi (#Pakistan), affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit LeT. He infiltrated in 2016 & was active in general area of Harwan & involved in several terror crimes,” Kashmir Zone police tweeted, quoting IGP Kashmir.
