Srinagar, Oct 16(NVI): Sajad Gani Lone, chairman of the People’s Conference, stated on Wednesday that the new government of Jammu and Kashmir should pass a resolution condemning the August 5, 2019 decision and the restrictions imposed on political leaders that day.

“We now have an elected government. Let’s set aside political differences. I congratulate the National Conference and Omar Abdullah on his election as chief minister,” he said. “Tell them that what they did on August 5, 2019, was an illegal move, and we reject it. Demand that the central government give us back what it has taken from us,” he added.

“We will support the government in this regard. History will be made when the first debate on Article 370 takes place in the Assembly,” Sajad stated during a press conference in Srinagar. He questioned, “Why are we the only ones with a union territory?” and urged leaders to unite for the restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir. “If we don’t register a protest against the August 5 decision, we are essentially accepting that we have permanently lost what we lost in 2019,” he stated.

“During the election campaigns, we heard claims about the restoration of Article 370, but once the elections were over, the debate ended, and no one is talking about it. It’s unfortunate, as the issue was only used for political gain,” he said. He also mentioned that people have placed their hopes in the National Conference manifesto, expressing hope that they can deliver. He noted that being in a union territory is challenging not just for them, but for everyone.  (News Vibes of India)
