Sumbal, Nov 14 (NVI): People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday strongly condemned the recent grenade attack in Srinagar’s Sunday Market that tragically claimed the life of Abida, a mother of three from Sumbal Bandipora Abida had sustained severe injuries in the attack and succumbed to them while undergoing treatment in a Srinagar hospital.
While speaking to media Mehbooba Mufti expressing deep sorrow, Mufti stated, “I visited Abida’s house in Sumbal. She was a mother of three young children, and her untimely demise is deeply tragic. For the past 30-35 years, we have witnessed similar incidents, leaving children orphaned and women widowed. This cycle of violence has become all too common, and I unequivocally condemn this brutal attack.”
Mufti raised serious concerns about the increasing violence in the region, urging the government to address its root causes. She questioned the persistent growth of militancy and the surge in attacks since the government’s formation. “Who is responsible for these attacks? What is happening is truly tragic,” she said, demanding a thorough government investigation into the matter.
She further emphasized the need for a comprehensive assessment of the situation in the valley to prevent such tragic incidents from recurring. “The authorities must determine whether these incidents are due to security lapses or other underlying issues,” she stressed.
Mufti also offered her prayers for Abida, saying, “I pray to Almighty Allah to grant her Jannat-ul-Firdous.” Her words resonated with many who share her concerns about the escalating violence and its devastating impact on innocent lives in Kashmir.—(News Vibes of India)
