Srinagar, Aug 20 (NVI): Syed Suhail Bhukhari, Chief Spokesperson & Senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday resigned from the party.

Bukhari, a journalist-turned-politician, was a close aide of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and had also served as her advisor when she was the Chief Minister.

Bhukhari had joined the PDP in 2019 when everyone was leaving the party and he was later appointed chief spokesperson in 2023.

Sources said that PDP is expected to give a mandate to Basharat Bhukhari where Suhail was willing to fight. He had hoped to contest the polls from Wagoora-Kreeri, but the return of former minister Basharat Bukhari to the PDP last month diminished his chances of getting the ticket.

They said that Suhail Bhukhari is now expected to join AIP and he will fight elections on AIP ticket.   (News Vibes of India)
