‘New Delhi (NVI): With coronavirus cases rapidly dropping in India and massive production of vaccines taking place, Philippines has said that it looks up to India as an example of reconciling Covid response.

Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Teddy Locsin Jr, while sharing a news story on India’s plummeting case numbers, tweeted, “The Philippines looks to India as the example of reconciling Covid response, tracing, cure, open economy and open schools and the massive production of vaccines.”

In response to this, Indian envoy to Philippines, Shambhu Kumaran, thanked the Secretary for mentioning it and said that though many are loath to admit it, India is emphatically winning the battle against the virus.

“Thank you Secretary Locsin for stating this in your inimitable style. Though many are loath to admit it, India is emphatically winning the battle against the virus. Two main reasons: an inspirational leader and the power of public participation!” he tweeted.

Just months ago, India was adding nearly 1,00,000 cases a day — more than any other country. On Tuesday, it reported only 8,635 cases.

The country’s active cases have also been rapidly falling and stands at 1,51,460, according to the Health Ministry’s data.

Furthermore, India has supplied 56 lakh doses under grant assistance to foreign countries while another 100 lakh doses as commercial supplies so far.
