New Delhi (NVI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted people of the nation on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras, the first of the five-day Diwali festival.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote in Hindi, “Best wishes to all of you on Dhanteras. May Lord Dhanvantari bring happiness, prosperity, good luck and good health in everyone’s life.”

Dhanteras, is the first day of five-day festival of Diwali, also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanvantari Triodasi, when the Goddess of wealth is worshiped to provide prosperity and well being.
Dhanvantari, who is worshipped on the occasion, is also considered the God of Ayurveda who imparted the wisdom of Ayurveda for the betterment of mankind, and to help rid it of the suffering of disease.
On this auspicious day in Hindu calendar people consider to buy gold and silver in order to herald prosperity.
