New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on his third term win in the recently concluded parliamentary elections.
Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party secured victory in Canada’s general elections but failed to get the majority.
Trudeau, who has been in power since 2015, fall short of 12 seats of the 170 which are needed for a majority in the House of Commons. The Liberals were leading in 158 seats while the Conservatives were leading or elected in 119 seats.
Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Justin Trudeau and said that he looks forward to working together to strengthen India and Canada relations.
“Congratulations Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau on your victory in the elections! I look forward to continue working with you to further strengthen India-Canada relations, as well as our cooperation on global and multilateral issues,” he tweeted.
