New Delhi (NVI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Onam and said this is a unique festival, which celebrates harmony.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote, “Greetings on Onam. This is a unique festival, which celebrates harmony. It is also an occasion to express gratitude to our hardworking farmers. May everyone be blessed with joy and best health.”

PM Modi also shared a video clip of his mention of the festival in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast on Sunday.

Onam, the biggest annual festival of Kerala, which falls in the month of Chingam, the first month according to the Malayalam calendar.
Onam festivities, which started on August 22, will continue till September 2. The celebrations spread over 10 days mark the Malayalam New Year and conclude with Thiruvonam.
The last four days are celebrated with much gusto as people wear new dresses, decorate their houses and prepare the traditional meals. This year, due to the pandemic things are slightly different.
