New Delhi (NVI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the next installment of financial benefits worth 18,000 crore under PM-KISAN scheme that will benefit more than 9 crore farmer families.
The Prime Minister released the next installment of financial benefits under the scheme even as farmers’ protests over the recently passed farm bills continue unabated. The PM released the installments via video on the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In a virtual interaction with farmers, PM Modi hit out at the Opposition for spreading lies over the newly-enacted farm bills. He sought to make it clear that through these agricultural reforms, there are better options for the farmers. “After these laws they can sell their produce to whoever they want. They can sell produce where they get the right prices,” he said.
During his address, PM said that ever since this scheme started, more than 1 lakh 10 thousand crore rupees have reached the account of farmers.
Under the PM-Kisan scheme, financial aid Rs 6,000 per year is provided to small and marginal farmers, payable in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. The fund is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
The Prime Minister also lashed out at the West Bengal government, saying that the farmers of the state have been deprived of the benefits of the Centre’s schemes. “Bengal is the only state, which is not allowing benefits of the schemes to reach the farmers,” PM Modi said.
He said that mandi will be closed and MSP will stay while urging farmers not to listen to rumours.
Union ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal and Smriti Irani attended the event through video conferencing from Delhi, Silchar, Hapur and Amethi respectively.
