PM Modi to hold meeting with CMs over COVID-19 scenario tomorrow

New Delhi (NVI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with chief minsters of states to review the COVID-19 situation and discuss vaccine distribution strategy tomorrow, via video conferencing.

At the meeting, PM Modi is expected to review the situation in worst affected states, which include – Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal and Rajasthan – and have been witnessing a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases and emerged as new hotspots.

As four vaccine candidates in India are in either the second or the third phase of clinical trials, vaccine distribution and emergency authorisation will also be discussed with the states.

The prime minister, till now, has held several virtual meetings with states over the coronavirus situation.

Several urban centres have witnessed a surge, resulting in enforcement of several measures, including night curfews in some cities.

Furthermore, central government has also been putting in place measures for quick and effective distribution of coronavirus vaccine when it becomes available.

So far, the country has reported more than 91 lakh coronavirus infections with 44,059 coronavirus infections being reported in a day.

However, India has been registering less than 50,000 Covid-19 cases daily for the past 16 days.
