New Delhi (NVI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the two poll-bound states of Assam and West Bengal today where he will inaugurate a number of infrastructure projects.
The Prime Minister is expected to reach Assam at 11:45 am. He will lay the foundation stone of two hospitals and launch ‘Asom Mala’, a programme for state highways and major district roads in Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur district.
Assembly election in Assam is due in April-May. The ruling BJP-led coalition is attempting another term in power by announcing and launching several major schemes in the state.
He is expected to arrive in West Bengal at 4 pm where he will address a public rally in Haldia. The PM will also lay foundation stones for key infrastructure projects in the state.
As per Election Commission officials, Assembly elections in West Bengal can be held in March-April and poll schedule could be announced any time in February. Pertinent to mention here that the tenure of the current Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government will end on May 30.
