PM pays tribute to Rajiv Gandhi

New Delhi (NVI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to former PM Rajiv Gandhi on his 29th death anniversary.

Taking to Twitter, PM wrote, “On his death anniversary, tributes to former PM Shri Rajiv Gandhi.”

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on this day in 1991 in Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur during an election campaign by a suicide bomber.

He was born on August 20, 1944, in Bombay to former prime minister Indira Gandhi and politician, freedom fighter Feroze Gandhi. He served as the sixth prime minister of the country, from 1984 to 1989.
