New Delhi (NVI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his memorial ‘Sadaiv Atal’ on his 96th birth anniversary.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also reached the memorial to pay respects to former PM on his anniversary.
Before visiting the memorial, PM Modi took to Twitter and wrote in Hindi, “Tributes to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. Under his visionary leadership, he took the country to unprecedented heights of development. His efforts to build a strong and prosperous India will always be remembered.”

Modi will also release a book ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament: A Commemorative Volume’ today, to mark the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Born on December 25, 1924, in MP’s Gwalior, Vajpayee was the first-ever person from the BJP party to become the prime minister. He served as PM thrice – briefly in 1996, from 1998 to 1999 – and then for a full five-year term between 1999 and 2004
He was conferred Bharat Ratna in 2015 and also been awarded Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant Award for Best Parliamentarian in 1994. Vajpayee passed away on August 16, 2018.
