New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver an address today on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day (WYSD). This day marks the fifth anniversary of the launch of Skill India Mission.
A digital conclave is being organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Skill India is an initiative which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to empower the youth with skill sets which make them more employable and more productive in their work environment.
World Youth Skills Day is celebrated each year on July 15, a UN recognised event. It’s aim is to recognise the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.
According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the day also highlights the crucial role of skilled youth in addressing current and future global challenges.
The goal behind celebrating this day is to achieve better socio-economic conditions for today’s youth, including as a means of addressing the challenges of unemployment and underemployment.
