Muzaffarabad (Pakistan-occupied J&K), Aug 1 (NVI) People of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) are clearly fed up of Pakistan’s evil projects of brainwashing and misguiding youth to become purposeless ‘jihadis’ and end up as corpses.
This aspect came to the fore recently in Kuiyaan village of POJK during the last rites in absentia (Namaz-e-Janaza) of Habib Tahir, one of the three terrorists killed by Indian forces in an encounter in Dachigam (Harwan) area of Srinagar on July 28.
Tahir, alias Chotu, was a member of so-called ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) which is a mask for the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit. The three were responsible for the massacre of 26 innocent people in Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22, according to Indian officials.
His family had planned his last rites in absentia in his native village on July 30.
Drama erupted when LeT commander Rizwan Hanif, along with his armed associates (bodyguards), reached the venue of the last rites.
Tahir had been brainwashed and trained in usage of arms by the LeT, which sent him for ‘jihad’ activities to Kashmir.
His family had been nursing anger against LeT over this and had made it clear that no one from the terror outfit should attend the last rites of Tahir.
But Rizwan Hanif and armed bodyguards still showed up and it led to a confrontation and physical fights.
One of Rizwan’s bodyguards, who is also his nephew, then threatened mourners that he would open fire but the public was unrelenting and forced them to run away.
Subsequently, residents of the area decided to hold a public Jirga to collectively oppose terror recruitment and activities.
This development demonstrates that people of PoJK are no more willing to consign their young kin to the machinations of Pakistani military. (NVI)
