Muzaffarabad (POJK): Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) was on the boil throughout Saturday, with widespread protests being held across the region by the locals who are angered more because of last night’s large-scale firing in which 2 persons were killed and 4 injured.
Pakistani forces indulged in firing again at various places in POJK while complete shutdown was observed in the occupied region’s capital Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot and other places.
The people of the occupied region expressed their anger by holding street protests and challenging the Pakistani forces who were deployed in large numbers in full battle gear.
The main protest in Rawalakot continued with larger participation on Saturday, despite last night’s brutality by the Pakistani forces to intimidate the protesters there.
The Pakistani forces converted Rawalakot into a warzone, unleashing heavy firing and shelling at various places in Rawalakot last night, killing a young girl and an elderly man. Four other civilians were injured.
Sounds of heavy gunfire and explosions resonated in Rawalakot throughout last night as the Pakistani forces continuously rained bullets from assault rifles and machine guns in an attempt to end a 5-month-old mass agitation against Islamabad’s rule.
The Pakistani forces also targeted the protesters with drones to throw some dangerous chemicals.
“The situation is very grim and serious,” said a local while highlighting that the Pakistani forces were unsuccessfully trying their best to intimidate Kashmiris.
Meanwhile, at the dharna site, leaders of the agitation declared that the people of the occupied territories would not cow down despite extreme brutality unleashed by the Pakistani forces.
The resolved to fight till the last man standing. (NVI)
