Police crack down on Drug Peddling in Baramulla district. 3 arrested, narcotics seized

Srinagar, Jan 8 (NVI): In a significant operation to curb drug trafficking and abuse, Police in Baramulla arrested three individuals and seized various contraband substances during separate raids across the district.

The operations, conducted at strategically placed checkpoints, underline the district police’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace.

At Khawajabagh, a police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Baramulla intercepted a suspect identified as Sarfaraz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Kralhar Baramulla. Upon searching him, officers recovered 60 Alprazolam tablets and 29 Pacitane tablets, both classified as psychotropic substances.

In another operation, a team from Police Station Boniyar intercepted Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh, a resident of Dudran, at a checkpoint in Banali Boniyar. The search yielded 54 grams of a heroin-like substance.

Meanwhile, at Takiya Wagoora, a police team from Police Post Wagoora apprehended Jahangir Ahmad Shah, a resident of the area, and recovered 30 grams of charas-like substance.

All three individuals have been arrested and shifted to their respective police stations. Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered, and investigations are underway.

The police urged the public to report drug-related activities or any suspicious behavior to their nearest police station or by dialing 112. They assured the community of strict action against offenders and sought public cooperation to combat the growing threat of drug abuse and trafficking.
