Baramulla, Aug 23 (NVI): The Baramulla Police registered a case pertaining to the missing report of a young lady from Kreeri who was reported missing on August 16, 2024.
“In this regard, a missing report was lodged in the Kreeri police station by the father of the missing lady, Gh. Mohi-ud-din Sheikh (details withheld),” a statement issued by the police reads.
It has further been revealed that the lady converted her religion and got married to one Sagar Pradeep Singh of Navi Mumbai on August 19, 2024. Subsequently, a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at the Kreeri police station, which falls under the territorial jurisdiction of Baramulla District Police.
The cyber patrol unit of the Baramulla District Police, taking cognizance of the situation, reported that there is an increase in misguiding and inflammatory posts on social media platforms. According to the statement, these posts, generated and forwarded by different miscreants and anti-social elements, seem to be aimed at inciting communal unrest by exploiting the situation.
Against this backdrop, the police issued a strong advisory to members of the public, warning them against sharing or engaging with any misleading information or incitement regarding the incident. The advisory further warns that ringleaders in spreading such information risks legal ramification, including criminal prosecution.
Patiently, Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe and respectable digital space for all users while calling for the public to exercise caution and responsibility while engaging online.
