Police seize properties worth Rs 1 Cr in major crackdown on drug trafficking in Anantnag

Anantnag, Dec 30 (NVI): In a decisive move against the growing menace of narcotics, Anantnag Police have attached properties worth Rs 1 crore under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, targeting individuals involved in drug trafficking.

A single-storey residential house and one Kanal of land, valued at Rs 20 lakhs, have been attached.

The property belongs to Bilal Ahmad Rather, son of Wali Mohammad Rather.

Bilal is implicated in FIR No. 57/2021 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act following the recovery of a significant quantity of narcotics.

A residential house built on a one-Kanal plot, valued at Rs 40 lakhs, has been attached.

The property is owned by Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie, son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganaie.

He is involved in FIR No. 99/2021 under the NDPS Act, linked to the recovery of contraband substances.

A residential house valued at Rs 40 lakhs has been seized. The property belongs to Rouf Ahmad Nanda, son-in-law of Gul Mohammad Tantray. He is implicated in FIR No. 34/2022 under Sections 8/15-29 of the NDPS Act.

The attached properties will remain under the custody of authorities until the completion of legal proceedings. The police have emphasized that such actions are intended to disrupt the financial networks of drug traffickers and deliver a stern warning to those involved in the illegal trade.

In a statement, Anantnag Police appealed to the public to cooperate in the fight against drug trafficking. They urged citizens to report any information about drug-related activities, assuring confidentiality and prompt action.

“These measures are part of our ongoing efforts to eradicate drug abuse and its networks from society. Together, we can create a safer, drug-free environment,” a senior police official said.
