New Delhi (NVI): Union Power Secretary, Sanjiv Nandan Sahai visited Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh today to review mini and micro-hydro projects in district.
During the visit, the Secretary was accompanied by Tanmay Kumar, Joint Secretary (Hydro), AK Singh, CMD, NHPC and K Sreekant, CMD, PGCIL.
Sahai was given a warm traditional welcome by the local residents at the Circuit House, Changlang, the Ministry of Power said in a statement.
“It may be recalled that the visiting Secretary (Power), Government of India served the people of Changlang as Deputy Commissioner during the year 1991-94,” it added
Moreover, the local residents also recalled the immense developmental works undertaken at Changlang during the tenure of Sanjiv Nandan Sahai.
During the visit, the Secretary also took a review meeting on the development of mini and micro-hydro projects of Changlang district.
The meeting was chaired by Phosum Khimhum, where in the Arunachal Pradesh State Hydro Power Department and briefed about the various issues associated with mini and micro-hydro projects in the district.
Apart from this, the issues related to erection of transmission lines by PGCIL were also discussed at length and the visiting Secretary assured all necessary help and support from the Ministry.
On the arrival of the Secretary at Changlang helipad, he was accorded a hearty welcome by S Tesam Pongte, Speaker, Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Phosum Khimhum, MLA, Changlang (South) along with Deputy Commissioner Superintendent of Police, Changlang district and Senior Officials from NHPC and PGCIL.
