President brings smiles on faces of differently-abled on Diwali

New Delhi (NVI): President of India Ram Nath Kovind made a noble difference to the Diwali celebrations of scores of differently-abled children as he met them in person and wished them the best for the festival of lights here at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities.

Interacting with Rehabilitated Divyangjan children of the Institute being run under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on the eve of Diwali, Kovind said, “I am feeling happy to celebrate Deepawali festival with Divyangjan children and the faculty members of the institute.”

Appreciating Institute, Kovind said, “The serving Divyangjan is the greatest service to society as Divyangjan are the creation of God. The institute and its faculty members are doing a commendable job in providing proper treatment to Divyangjan children and patients.”

“They provide not only physical treatment but the psychological treatment also,” he added.

The President interacted with the outdoor child patients and rehabilitated Divyangjan children and their parents. Divyang child patients were presented with Aids and Assistive Devices on the occasion.

Later, he also interacted with the faculty members of the institute and the heads of all three departments of the institute presented the brief description of their respective departments as to how the Divyangjan patients are successfully treated at the institute.

The Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot, DEPwD Secretary Shakuntala Doley Gamlin, and Smita Jayavant, Director of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities and senior officers of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment were also present on the occasion.
