New Delhi (NVI): President Ram Nath Kovind underwent a successful bypass surgery at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi this morning.
The President was shifted to AIIMS on Saturday where post investigations, doctors have advised him to undergo a planned bypass procedure.
In a statement, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said, “The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind underwent cardiac bypass surgery today morning (March 30, 2021) at AIIMS, New Delhi. Surgery was successful.”
“He is stable and is being closely monitored by a team of senior doctors,” the statement added.
In this regard, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also took to Twitter and congratulate the team of doctors for successful operation and prayed for President’s speedy recovery.
“The President of India, Ramnath Kovind has undergone a successful bypass surgery at AIIMS, Delhi. I congratulate the team of doctors for successful operation. Spoke to Director AIIMS to enquire about Rashtrapatiji’s health. Praying for his well-being and speedy recovery,” Singh tweeted.

The President had visited the Army Hospital (R&R) on March 26 following chest discomfort where he underwent routine check-up and was kept under observation.
