Jammu, Jan 01 (NVI) Project Sampark, a flagship initiative of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), celebrated its Golden Jubilee today, marking 50 years of unparalleled service in building and maintaining strategic road infrastructure across the challenging terrains south of the Pir Panjal ranges.

Established on January 1, 1975, with an initial road network of 500 kilometers and a modest budget of Rs 3.4 crore, Project Sampark has grown exponentially, now managing over 3,000 kilometers of critical road networks with an annual budget of Rs 1,400 crore.

To commemorate this milestone, a special cover was unveiled by DG Border Roads, Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, VSM, in a ceremony attended by Maj Gen MK Khan, VSM, ADG Army Postal Service (APS), and Brig Neeraj Madan, Chief Engineer of Project Sampark, among other senior officials. The event also saw the release of a “Bridge Compendium,” showcasing five decades of exceptional achievements in bridging some of the most challenging obstacles in the region.

The compendium celebrates the project’s role in fostering connectivity and development in border districts like Jammu, Kathua, Doda, Udhampur, Rajouri, Reasi, and Poonch. Beyond infrastructure, Project Sampark has been a beacon of socio-economic growth, uniting remote communities with the rest of the nation while embodying the ethos of BRO: “Connecting, Caring, and Contributing.”

DG Border Roads lauded the relentless efforts of Project Sampark’s personnel, past and present, who have worked under extreme conditions to tame the region’s harsh terrain. On this historic occasion, Project Sampark reaffirmed its commitment to the nation, vowing to continue its mission of “Sadaiv Agrasar” (Always Ahead) with unwavering dedication and vigor.(News Vibes of India)
