Punjab, Haryana farmers march towards Delhi; police step up patrol at borders

New Delhi (NVI): As thousands of farmers from Haryana and Punjab gear up for “Delhi Chalo” march to protest against the Centre’s three farm laws, Delhi Police have denied all requests from farmers’ organisations for the same and have stepped up deployment at borders.

The Delhi Metro also said no train will cross borders to enter Noida, Gurugram or other NCR towns till 2pm on Thursday.

In addition to this, the Delhi government has refused to allow any rally in the city, citing the coronavirus outbreak.

A huge gathering of farmers amassed with their tractor-trailers on Wednesday and are headed for the national capital.

Meanwhile, Haryana has also put up road barricades to seal its borders with Punjab for the next two days, to stop the farmers from their onwards march to Delhi.

Haryana police used water cannons on the protesting farmers to disperse and stop them from going to Delhi.

Furthermore, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC was imposed in several parts of Haryana to prevent assembly of protesters.
