New Delhi: As the southwest monsoon intensifies over parts of Northwest India, the weather forecasters are expecting heavy rainfall and hailstorms along with gusty wind exceeding up to 60 kmph to occur over this region.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), “Heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh today.
Thunderstorm with lightning, hail & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) at isolated places very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, it said in its daily weather bulletin.
With lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) expected at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Mahe.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls are also likely at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar while heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over interior Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe, it said.
Parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal are also likely to receive heavy rainfall, the IMD said.
With lightning & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) at isolated places over East Rajasthan; with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) at isolated places very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, it said.
