Rain, thunderstorms likely over several parts of India

New Delhi: Several parts of India are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and winds gusting up to 40 kmph, the IMD said today.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), “Heavy to very heavy fall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Konkan, Goa and ghat area of Madhya Maharashtra.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at isolated places over south Gujarat Region, Telangana, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, the IMD said in its daily weather bulletin.

“Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Southeast Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Southwest Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Saurashtra & Kutch, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, ” it said.

Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad; with lightning at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Kerala & Mahe and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.

Squally Weather (speed 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) very likely over central & Southwest Arabian Sea; Northeast Arabian Sea and along & off Gujarat-Maharashtra-Goa-Karnataka-Kerala coasts, the IMD said.

Strong wind (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over Westcentral & Southwest Bay of Bengal. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.
