New Delhi: Heavy rainfall to continue over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days, the India Meteorological Department said today.
According to IMD, “Widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over northeast India and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 5 days under the influence of strong southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to the northeast and adjoining east India in lower tropospheric levels.”
“Isolated extremely heavy rainfall also likely over Arunachal Pradesh on June 15; over Assam & Meghalaya on 15th & 16th June and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during 15th-17th June 2022,” the IMD said.
Rainfall activity is likely to increase gradually over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal with fairly widespread to widespread rainfall along with lightning, thunderstorm and gusty winds during the next 5 days.
Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Jharkhand during 16th-19th; Gangetic West Bengal on 16th & 17th and over Bihar during 15th-19th June, the IMD said.
The IMD further said, “Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during next 5 days.”
Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Chhattisgarh during the next 5 days; over East Madhya Pradesh from 15th-17th June and over Vidarbha on 19th June.
Under the influence of westerly winds along the west coast and a trough from South Interior Karnataka to Comorin area in lower tropospheric levels, fairly widespread/ widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning is very likely over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall likely over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during next 5 days, it said.
Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala & Mahe, South Interior Karnataka during next 5 days; Telangana during 15th-17th; Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during 15th-18th; coastal Karnataka during 16th-19th and over south Konkan & Goa on 18th & 19th June 2022.
Under the influence of Western Disturbances and lower level easterlies, “Scattered rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning very likely over Western Himalayan region (Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit- Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and adjoining plains Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Rajasthan).”
On 15th June becoming fairly widespread to widespread rainfall over Western Himalayan region and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi & Uttar Pradesh from 16th-18th June.
Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand on 17th June.
As per IMD, no significant change in maximum temperatures is very likely over most parts of Northwest India during the next 24 hours and fall by 2-40 C thereafter.
Gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 2-40 C very likely over East India during next 3 days and no significant change thereafter.
No significant change in maximum temperatures is very likely over the rest parts of the country during the next 5 days, the IMD said.
