New Delhi Apr 02 (NVI) : In view of the escalating tensions in West Asia, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday chaired the second meeting of the Informal Group of Ministers (IGoM) in New Delhi, directing round-the-clock monitoring and a “calibrated response” to safeguard India’s interests.

The high-level meeting held at Kartavya Bhawan, reviewed the evolving geopolitical situation and assessed potential implications for India, including energy security, supply chains and overall economic stability.

Stressing urgency amid the “uncertain situation,” Singh asserted that the government must remain fully prepared to handle any contingency, ensuring minimal disruption to citizens. “No stone should be left unturned to shield the country from adverse fallout,” he emphasized.

The meeting saw participation from key Union Ministers including Nirmala Sitharaman, S. Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri, along with other senior cabinet members, reflecting a coordinated whole-of-government approach.

The IGoM is tasked with continuously monitoring developments in West Asia and recommending proactive measures to cushion India against any potential economic or strategic shocks arising from the ongoing conflict.(NVI)
