Srinagar, Sep 12 (NVI): The Cyber Police Kashmir on Sunday issued an advisory, asking social media users as well as WhatsApp Group Admins to refrain from posting or forwarding any unverified news item.
A cyber police spokesperson in a statement issued to the News Vibes of India (NVI) reads, the advisory said spreading false/unconfirmed news items would create unnecessary panic/ confusion among members of the general public.
It reads as the police thus stated that WhatsApp group admins are liable to take care of the authenticity and verification of the content shared in their groups; otherwise, there may be a takeover of cases in court under the IT Act.
Also, the public has been advised to stay informed and exercise caution when sharing information on social media platforms. The Cyber Police stressed the importance of being responsible while using digital platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation. (News Vibes of India)
