New Delhi (NVIT: The Supreme Court today asked the Government to put all farm laws on hold in wake of massive protests by farmers and proposed that a committee be formed to look into the contentious issue.
“We propose to form a committee and if the government does not then we will stay the implementation of the farm acts,” Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde said during the hearing.
Hearing a bunch of petitions challenging the new farm laws as well as the ones related to the ongoing agitation at Delhi borders, the apex court said that it was not happy with the Centre’s handling of the issue.
The court has said that it will pass an order on the matter today or tomorrow. The SC also observed that holding the laws will make an appropriate and peaceful atmosphere for talks.
