Srinagar, July 5 (NVI): A cordon and search operation entered its second day in the Saidpora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday after an exchange of fire between security forces and suspected terrorists, officials said.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists, a joint team of the police, Army and CRPF launched the operation in the area on Saturday, the officials said.

During the searches on Saturday evening, an exchange of fire took place, prompting security forces to rush additional reinforcements and intensify the operation, they said.

Officials said no terrorist has been killed so far and the search operation was continuing when the last reports were received.

They said further details were awaited as the operation was still in progress.(NVI)
