COVID-19 threatens people with heart diseases, as winter hints at a second wave

New Delhi: India witnessed a further decline in fresh Covid cases today, with 5,439 new cases being registered in the last 24 hours.

The country’s active caseload stood at 65,732 constituting 0.15% of the total Covid cases, Union Health Ministry said today.

With this, the cumulative death toll due to the pandemic since 2020 rose to 5,27,829, it said.

The recovery rate is currently at 98.66%, with 22,031 patients being recovered in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

With this the cumulative recoveries across the country have reached 4,38,25,024, it said.

The daily positivity rate stands at 1.70% and the weekly positivity rate is at 2.64%, the Ministry said.

With the administration of 26,36,224 Covid vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the country’s cumulative vaccination coverage has reached 212.17 crores.

Yesterday, the country registered 7,591 fresh Covid cases and 30 fatalities in 24 hours.

A day prior to that, the country registered 9,436 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours.
