Soccer icon Bhutia joins EAC air warriors to mark Diamond Jubilee

New Delhi (NVI): Indian football star Bhaichung Bhutia today joined the air warriors and their families in celebrating Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Eastern Air Command (EAC) in Shillong and said the Indian Air Force had provided stepping stone in his successful sports career.

Participating in the Bara Khana (community lunch) organised by Air Marshal RD Mathur, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command as the chief guest, the soccer legend thanked the IAF for the services extended during natural calamities, an official statement said.

He further expressed gratitude towards the IAF saying that the Subroto Mukherjee Football tournament organised by IAF had proved to be a stepping stone in his career.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by air warriors and their families and furthered the camaraderie and bonhomie among all ranks of IAF, an official statement said.The Eastern Air Command Headquarters is commemorating its Diamond Jubilee this year through a series of events.
