Jammu, Sep 02 (NVI): A soldier was killed in a stand-off attack on the army’s Sunjwan army post in Jammu, defence sources said today.
They said that the terrorists seem to have carried out an attack on the army post camp in Sunjwan area of Jammu in which one soldier sustained injuries. “A few gunshots were heard after which there was a lull. It was a standoff attack and it seems that a sniper may have been used,” the defence sources said. They said the injured soldier was removed to the hospital for treatment, he however succumbed.
A massive manhunt has been launched in the area especially in the tall buildings to track down the attackers. “Drones have been pressed into service for aerial surveillance,” defence sources said, adding that the Jammu has been already on high alert in the wake of spate of attacks by terrorists on the army.
In the past three years, 43 soldiers were killed in different attacks by terrorists in Reasi, Kathua, Poonch and Doda districts. (News Vibes of India)
