Sopore, Nov 21(NVI): Sopore Police have successfully solved a hit-and-run case that resulted in the tragic death of Dr. Azhar Hassan Janwari, a resident of Upper Ashpeer, Sopore.
“The incident occurred on November 5, 2024, when an unidentified motorcyclist struck the pedestrian and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured. The victim was initially treated at SDH Sopore before being referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced medical care. Despite extensive efforts, Dr. Janwari succumbed to his injuries on November 18, 2024,” reads a statement issued by police, a copy of which lies with NVI.
It reads as, acting on the FIR registered under No. 233/2024, police initiated an in-depth investigation utilizing advanced technical methods. Their efforts led to the identification of the accused, Nadeem Hameed Badam, also a resident of Upper Ashpeer, Sopore.
“During interrogation, the accused confessed to riding his scooty (registration number JK05H-4292) recklessly on the day of the incident and hitting the victim. Panicked by the accident, he fled the scene without reporting it to the authorities,” it reads further.
It also reads as, the accused has since been arrested, and the vehicle involved has been seized. Police have added Section 106(2) to the case and are continuing further investigations.—(News Vibes of India)
